The Tilburg festival on Vleugels has now been successfully completed. We have succeeded in reaching different target groups at various locations with varied music performances of a high level.

The piano contest

The purpose of this activity was to bring (contemporary) classical music to the people and of course to encourage young talent to show their musical qualities. They performed compositions of Mozart and Sporck with great enthusiasm and musicality. This happened on a mobile podium at the Heuvel / Pieter Vreedeplein and on the square at the Radioplein. It was a beautiful day, so there was quite an audience! A special feature was the performance of two young talents with carillonneur Carl van Eyndhoven. This caused a special form of musical communication from the stage on the ground floor with the carillone entrenched in the tower.

The piano marathon

On 5 October an unusual concert took place in the concert hall of Theaters Tilburg. In fact, there were four concerts, four pianists who succeeded each other and played both 'old' and contemporary classical music. A sensational and full evening program with Ralph van Raat, Severin von Eckardstein, Bobby Mitchell and Daan Vandewalle. The latter concluded with the variations of Rzewski, a spectacular apotheosis.

New carillon music on 6 October

In the so-called refectory of Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, new carillon music by Tilburg composers, including a composition by Jo Sporck, was played. Here too, there was musical communication from a location on the ground floor with carillonneur Carl van Eyndhoven, sitting high in the tower of the Heikese kerk.

Young talents and students from Fontys University of the Arts playing Mozart and Sporck

Students from the Fontys School of the Arts and pupils from the talent class of Jelena Bazova played pieces by Mozart and Sporck at Frans van de Sande Piano's. Among the performances were compositions for 4 hands and 8 hands. This successful event attracted many visitors.

The final concert

The grand finale of the festival took place on Sunday 14 October, with the world premiere of Zindering by Jo Sporck. The Antwerp orchestra Casco Phil played this piece with Antal Sporck as soloist under the direction of Alexei Kornienko. These roles were reversed at the piano concerto KV482 in Es major by W.A. Mozart. About 400 visitors enjoyed this remarkable concert.
